I am very excited to post today because I just finished a pillow sham for my favorite 2 year old girl. Late last year I fell in love with the fabric line “Puttin’ on the Ritz” by Moda. I asked my friend, the mother of the 2 year old, what she might like made out of the fabric. She recommended a pillowcase because the big girl bed transition is happening soon. Oh, and this is the same family I made the Christmas stockings for, remember? So yes, I decided that would be very easy.
I stared at the fabric for awhile, trying to decide how I could incorporate the cotton charm pack squares, a yard of ruffly trim, and a yard of pink satin into a pillowcase. I decided the satin had to be attached to fusible interfacing to make it more stable. That was easy. And I laid out the pink squares into a rectangle that I liked. From there the project just came together naturally. How nice not to follow a pattern! And I did not have to make any trips to Joann’s for this project. I had pink thread, quilt batting, and two white tea towels to attach to the back to make it a true pillow sham. Cannot wait to see the little girl’s reaction this coming weekend!
And of course this sewing project means I get to update my stash report for week 3:
Used this Week: 2 yards
Used year to Date: 2 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 0 yards
Net Used for 2012: 2 yards
This project just made my week! So pleased with the results. Now on to the knitting I need to finish!
