Summer Birthday Card

Summer is here!  The summer sessions have begun on campus and the weather is definitely warm enough.  My garden is growing like crazy and all of the summer knit-alongs are starting.  Time for a fun summer birthday card.

I knew I wanted to make birthday cards, so I pulled out this green patterned paper and designed from there.  The stars from the patterned paper are actually the reverse side of the green patterned paper, so that was easy.  I painted a chipboard star orange.  The red cake is a die cut from Sizzix.  The blue canvas-like ribbon was something I picked up years ago.  And I had the chance to use a paper doily!  I have been meaning to use one for awhile.  The card opens up to say “Happy Birthday” stamped in blue ink on the white background.  I always love paper that is white on the inside.

Hope your summer is off to a good start.  Later this week I will share the fun summer socks I just finished knitting!
